Cryptorchidism is the absence of one or both testes from the scrotum and is one of the most common congenital malformations of male neonates. The treatment of choice for undescended testis is a surgical replacement in the scrotum and the earlier the treatment, the lower the risk of impaired fertility and testicular cancer. The palpable testis is usually treated surgically using an inguinal approach, while non-palpable testis is commonly approached laparoscopically.
